Father Gene's Help Center

About

Father Gene’s Help Center is a free clothing closet that strives to provide dignity through free clothing to people in the greater Milwaukee area. Our vision is a transformed community where all people have access to clean, dignified clothing in which they feel confident. We strive to achieve our mission and vision through the values of dignity, abundance, hospitality, and compassion.  We welcome anyone in the community who expresses a need to receive clothing from us. We rely almost entirely on volunteers to serve our clients.
  • Programs: We offer two programs. Our first program is a box of personally styled clothing created for clients based on client need and the availability of donations. We recently expanded our services to offer a client shopping experience by appointment, all for free.
  • Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteers are needed to help facilitate the client shopping experience, to restock the front room “store” as items are selected, to pack personally styled boxes, and to sort incoming donations. We are looking for folks who can make regular commitments, as well as folks who are interested in a one-time/group experience. Our current hours are Monday through Friday from 9 am to 12 noon, but we are open to scheduling opportunities for volunteers outside of those hours.
  • COVID 19 Precautions: We are asking everyone who is in the center to wear a face mask, to practice good hand hygiene, to be mindful of social distancing, and to sanitize work stations at the end of a shift.
  • Location & Directions: We are located at 5919 W National Ave, West Allis, WI 53214. We are right along the Blue bus route and have quite a bit of off street parking available in back.
