Centro Hispano Milwaukee, since its beginning some 50 years ago has always recognized the preeminent role that this essential organization has played in this community as an advocate of the under served, and Latinos, in particular. The organization serves more than 20,000 individuals in 18 different locations. In collaboration with its partners and through its advocacy work. Its efforts directly impact children, families, the elderly, immigrants, and non-English speaker's; and its advocacy ensures a focus on equity and social justice, particularly for a growing Latino population. The Council for the Spanish Speaking, Inc. advocates on behalf of Latinos and the socially and economically challenged. It offers programs in education, housing and human services to improve quality of life for families, children, youth, and the aging; promotes cultural, racial and linguistic understanding; and community planning and development supportive of social and economic equity.
